Children's Dentist

Keeps Little Smiles on Track

Your child’s smile is probably one of your most favorite things in the entire world, and you’d likely do just about anything to take care of it. Fortunately, you’re far from alone in this pursuit, as Dr. Colleen is ready and able to care for the youngest members of your family. At our practice, they’ll receive just the right combination of treatments, patience, and a gentle touch to ensure their teeth stay strong and their mind stays calm.

To help make taking care of your child’s teeth a little easier, on this page, we’re going to answer some of the most common questions parents ask us every day.

When should I bring my child in for their first dental appointment?

We recommend bringing your child to see us around the time of their first birthday. After this, they should start coming in for regular checkups and cleanings (just like you) starting at age three.

Does your office have much experience with children?

Yes, Dr. Colleen has helped countless children over the years, and many of our team members are parents themselves, so we know just how to keep little ones comfortable during their appointments.

What will my child’s first appointment be like?

Smiling chiild outdoors

They’ll be greeted by smiles by our front desk team, and then we’ll take them on a short tour of the office so they can begin to acclimate to their new surroundings. Afterward, you and your child will get to meet your dentist and chat a bit, and then they’ll perform a brief oral exam while your child sits in your lap. Everything will proceed nice and slow. Your dentist may then clean their teeth and gums, and then they’ll go over the best ways to take care of their growing smile. We want your child to leave their first appointment feeling encouraged and you feeling informed, so be sure to ask as many questions as you want!
